Varnam, a FOSS input method to easily type Indian languages on digital devices

This talk is a mix of Tamil + English. It will demonstrate the FOSS Varnam input tool to type Tamil, Malayalam and other Indian languages on GNU/Linux desktop, Android and other platforms.

Also welcoming contributors to improve Varnam for Tamil. The components used for Varnam can be used for making any input methods on GNU/Linux desktop. Most things are written in Go, JavaScript, Ruby.

Building simple GUI apps in GNU/Linux with Go & GTK

Build graphical apps in GNU/Linux with Go (golang) & GTK. Building & Shipping with Go is straightforward & easy compared to other languages. The learning curve is small albeit some nuances.

The talk will go through building GUI apps, targeting platforms, making install scripts, shipping an app. The app would work cross-platform across GNU/Linux distros.

This talk is beginner friendly. If you’re curious about building GUI apps for computers, this is a right talk to attend.
